Proposed Southern Loop

The Southern Loop (later referred to as the Southern Loop Connector) was a 26-mile beltway proposed to circle Maryville and was later removed from the plans—except for the 4.4 miles of the proposed Pellissippi Parkway Extension.

In a Sept. 30, 2009 Daily Times news story, Blount County Highway Superintendent said, “The Southern Loop is never going to happen….Number one, it’s too expensive. Number two, the feasibility is not here, in my opinion.” The estimated price tag in 2001 was $274 million.
